Destination Nevada

Destination Nevada is the perfect place for MilitaryFares.com to look at for this installment in our travel destination series.    Summer is coming.  And summer usually means hot—like the deserts of the west.  And the west reminds me of places like Nevada, Texas and Mexico.  Of the three, Nevada wins out (in my mind) for the location of “all things western”.  From its State Flower—the Sagebrush, to its deserts and gambling casinos, Nevada is the epitome of “the west”.

About Nevada

Places like Carson City, Reno and Las Vegas are legendary and are all found in Nevada.   So, vacationing here won’t be a disappointment.   Even though Nevada is thought to be the driest state in the nation, and much of it is uninhabited—there is still plenty to do.

Try you luck in Las Vegas at many of the casinos found there.  Did you know that Las Vegas was family friendly too?  Take your family to places like the Las Vegas Stratosphere Hotel.  Three exciting rides await you on the roof top: The X-Scream, the Insanity and the Big Shot!  All will thrill you with views of the city as they –in one way or another—dangle you over the side of the roof.  The Mirage Hotel has the erupting Volcano and the Garden and Dolphin Habitat to explore.  But, if you just want to walk around, because you can’t sleep or are just too excited—you could always go to the themed hotels and take in all the many sites Las Vegas has to offer.  It literally seems to be a world within a city!

Next, take a drive out to Reno, Lake Tahoe or visit other attractions like the Hoover Dam.  Once known as the Boulder Dam, it is the largest reservoir by volume in the United States.  The dam is a major tourist attraction and is located near Boulder City, Nevada—between the borders of Arizona and Nevada.

Look for Military Discounts

Now, let’s talk military.  Though you might not have access to places like Area 51 and the Cheyenne Mountain Complex (wink), you probably could swing by Creech or Nellis Air Force Base or maybe the Hawthorne Army Depot to check out any recreational facilities that are available for Service Members.  Also, there are a great number of hotels that offer military discounts.  As always, please check our MilitaryFares.com site for great deals on flights, car rentals and hotels.  As it says on the site: “We provide flights to countries all over the world. … At Military Fares, we understand the need to find a flight quickly and easily for your military travel.”
